Set of 8 hardbacks tightly bound in matching bindings of brown cloth with gilt titles and blindstamped decoration, yellow endpapers, cloth has minor rubbing and bumping at corners, some fox spotting to first and last few pages, some volumes still uncut, no inscriptions. Volumes 1, 2 & 3 are on the history of Rome, volumes 4, 5 & 6 on ancient history, including Greece, and volumes 7 & 8 on ethnography & geography. Each volume has around 400 pages, and there is an engraved tissue-guarded frontispiece to the first volume of each of the 3 series. Very heavy set
